TAMS Scholars Programme

The TAMS Scholars Programme is a personal and professional development programme designed for first year medical students from a widening participation background*. The programme will welcome its second cohort of scholars in October 2023 and successful applicants will benefit from the following:

  • Free access to medical education resources for undergraduate studies *

  • Personal and professional development webinars (e.g. financial literacy and career planning). (Please click here for the timetable of sessions)

  • Mentorship

Places are limited and competitive**.

*Whilst we would love to fully financially support all scholars, the resources of this programme remains limited and reliant on external funding. We are therefore unable to provide financial support for scholars. We hope that this does not adversely effect your desire to apply for this programme.

 

*Preferences will be made for applicants who fulfil at least one of the following criteria:

  • Live in a widening participation area – an ACORN 4 or 5 postcode (You can check this by going to the ACORN website: acorn.caci.co.uk )

  • In receipt of free school meals during years 10-13

  • You attended a school which has a lower than national average attainment 8 score (Visit gov.uk/school-performance-tables to find out your school’s attainment 8 score. )

  • You live in a household with an income of less than £35,000

  • The sole carer of a parent/sibling

  • Have spent more than 3 months in care

  • A member of a travelling family

**Please also note that the TAMS Scholars Programme is limited to those commencing medical school in a university based within the United Kingdom
